Klik Marketing SEO Glossary

The world of SEO is full of acronyms and jargon. We believe that our customers have the right to fully understand what we are talking about when we use them!

Anchor Text – The text included in a hyperlink on which your user clicks.

Black Hat SEO – Excessive link buying, keyword stuffing and other strategies that focus on ‘tricking’ Search Engines into placing your website higher in the results pages. These are generally short term strategies that have a high risk of search engines flagging your site for deceptive techniques.

Blended Search – A type of search that returns results pages that include not only links to webpages, but also photos, video and news results.

Bounce Rate- The percentage of users who immediately click the back button after arriving at your site.

Click-Through-Rates (CTR)- CTR is the number of times a visitor clicks on your hyperlink over the total number of times the link appeared to viewers in either organic search results or paid advertisements.

Conversion Rate – The number of total visitors who convert to a sale or lead divided by the total number of visitors to your site.

Return on Investment (ROI)- The amount of money you put into an SEO/SEM campaign compared to your profits as a result of that campaign.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM)- Buying adspace, banners, pop-ups, etc. to bring web traffic to a site. This process interrupts the user’s search.
